Earth Day Minigrant Application Form

Do you have an exciting idea for a project that would help us realize how important it is to clean our air, save our trees, keep toxins out of our river, or otherwise further environmental education? Earth Day, Inc. will award grants of up to $500 to groups who will implement environmental educational programs.

Deadline March 30, 2012
Grants will be awarded April 21, 2012.

Complete the application (download the above form) and address the following six requirements on a separate piece of paper. Please print clearly or type all sections.

  • State the purpose or intent of your project.
  • Describe your project and how it furthers environmental education.
  • How many people do you expect to involve and/or impact? What learning activities are associated with your project?
  • How will you evaluate the impact of your project?
  • Itemize the anticipated expenses (supplies, materials, equipment).
  • List name, organization and title of project on each page submitted.

These scholarships are available for graduating seniors that are enrolled in a high school with an active PTA/PTSA in good standing. Students applying may be eligible for one time awards from $1,000.00 to $2,000.00 dollars (depending on the scholarship they apply for), as long as they plan on enrolling as a student/undergraduate at a school, college or university located within the state of Florida in 2012-2013.

    Our annual trip to Tallahassee to meet with our legislators will take place

    Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

    We will have bus transportation available and we’ll even buy you lunch!

    This is a GREAT opportunity to meet with our Duval delegation face to face to share information with them why public education funding is so important.

    We will board the buses to Tallahassee from the School Board Building at 6am and will be returning to Jacksonville by 4:30pm

    Would you like to help children
    improve their reading skills?

    Becoming a Reading Volunteer is very simple. You only need to attend an interesting and informative, one-time class. The class is 1½ hours long and will give you some good tips on working with students of all ages. Upon completing this class, you may volunteer in the school of your choice or we can help you choose a school.

    The next set of classes will be held in the DCPS School Board Building at 1701 Prudential Drive:

    January 10 – 3rd Floor, Conference Room 307

    January 12 – Cline Auditorium

    January 17 – 3rd Floor, Conference Room 307

    January 19 – Cline Auditorium

    All classes begin at 1:00 p.m. and end by 2:30 p.m.
