iAdvocate for Kids is a new DCC PTA program to train individuals how to be effective advocates. Another aspect of the program is to motivate members to use their voices when it comes to education issues.
The training covers 6 modules, with 4 focusing on how to be an advocate and 2 covering specific topics for PTAs. Training dates will be announced through Emails, the DCCPTA website, and at the DCC general meetings. There will be a minimum of 1 training a month and will come to your facility for training for a class of 10 or more starting in April. Contact Vickie to arrange for a unit program.
This training is made possible by a grant from the National PTA. Part of the grant work is to educate our members about the Common Core State Standards which were adopted by Florida State in 2010. Implementation of CCSS will happen in the 2014-15 school year.

As for motivating members – we’ll be hosting postcard writing campaigns and legislative visits so our members can use their voices.
