Course descriptions:

  • Building Successful Partnerships
    is for anyone who is interested in learning how you can apply the six principles of parent and community involvement to your local unit. This is not limited to or focused on business partners in the community.
  • Bylaws & Parliamentary Procedure
    is useful for any new PTA leaders who need to learn about the PTA bylaws and why we have them. You should attend if your Bylaws are out of date and you need help or if you will need to update them in the coming year. You can also learn about Parliamentary Procedure and how it can help keep your meetings effective.
  • Cultural Arts & Reflections
    will show you how to start and implement a Reflections program for your school, as well as learn about Cultural Arts in our area.
  • Developing Successful Programs
    focuses on program planning. What’s the difference between a program and a project? What types of programs can you do for your local unit? How do you make them successful?
  • Getting the Recognition You Deserve/Awards
    will prepare your local unit to understand what needs to be done to earn awards for your group. The timeline and rules will be covered along with tips on how you can prepare award winning applications.
  • Growing your PTA – Membership
    will cover all of the key elements for a successful membership campaign. How do those schools keep getting 1000+ members every year? Come and find out…
  • How To Do History Books
    is a good class for new historians or for anyone who needs ideas for keeping your history books in the future. The procedure for submitting a history book for the annual competition will also be covered.
  • Keys To Increasing Male Involvement
    will help you find ways to encourage males to be more involved in your school. Learn from PTA studies and real examples of how to make it work!
  • Legislation
    Your Voice Really Matters is an important session designed to educate local unit leaders about key legislative issues. In the wake of ever changing legislation, parents play an important role in staying in touch with our local politicians. Help keep your local unit informed and active!
  • Meet your Area Coordinator
    gives you a chance to put a face to your Area Coordinator. Bring your questions, issues, problems and we’ll help get you on the right track.
  • Money Matters
    What the Treasurer Really Needs to Know is designed for treasurers and will provide information as to state and local rules, timelines and requirements.
  • Planning & Implementing Health & Safety Programs
    will teach you about fun and successful health & safety events at your school.
  • PTA 101
    is a good class for anyone who is new to PTA. All of the basics from the state and local level will be covered. We can bring this class to your local units too!
  • Rebuilding Your PTA
    will outline the procedure for reorganizing your PTA , and provide a sample notice inviting parents/guardians to the reorganization meeting.
  • Recruiting & Retaining Volunteers
    will help you set up a successful volunteer program at your local unit. School board employees will share the latest on the volunteer screening program and you can learn strategies for recruiting and retaining great volunteers.
  • Secretaries & Creative Communications
    is offered for new people who have taken on either of these key roles in your local unit. Procedures and important safeguards for your records will be covered. The communications portion of the program will give you some tips on how you can create an effective newsletter and website for your local unit.
  • So Now You’re the President
    is designed for first time presidents. This class will provide an overall orientation to PTA and give you some tips on how you can make your presidency most effective.
