Welcome back to all our Local Units for the 2022-2023 School Year.
I am excited about our new year, and we have so many PTA/PTSA’s that are re-starting. We have a phenomenal DCCPTA Board this year and we are off to a great start with having our first board meeting in person since Covid.
I have had a very busy summer attending the National PTA Convention and Hill Day in Virginia this past June as well attended the Florida PTA Convention in Orlando, Florida. The DCCPTA delegates that attended the convention did an outstanding job representing Duval County and I was so proud of each of them. The date for the 2023 Florida PTA Convention is July 13th – 16th and will be at the Omni Champions Gate again this coming year in Orlando. Hotel reservations will be opening in approximately two weeks and rooms will be going fast. I will be letting all local units know when reservations open and if you did not go this past year, you do not want to miss this opportunity to attend some great workshops that will be offered as well as getting important information at our general sessions.
Please make sure to register your officers with Florida PTA! We get a weekly report for the PTA office, and this is how we get the local unit’s contact information, the number of memberships each local unit has and most importantly a way to help track when your bylaws will be expiring. If you pay your membership dues through MemberHub, it does not show until the following Friday as it takes a while to process. If you mail a check, once the bookkeeper records your payment it then gets reported to the Florida PTA Membership staff member.
Our DCCPTA Board Meetings as well as our General Meetings are now meeting back in person at the DCPS Building located at 1701 Prudential Drive. The board members will be discussing at the next meeting how to move forward as far as using social media for meetings.
On April 15, 2023, Florida PTA will be holding a Centennial Celebration in Orlando. Just think, 100 years of Advocating for Children! As soon as I receive more information, I will be getting that out to all local units.
On Wednesdays Florida PTA will be offering Road to Success virtual trainings. These will be held both at 12:00 pm. And 7:00 pm. However, the first one will be held at 7:00 pm on September 7th and the Florida PTA Executive Board as well as the Florida PTA Office Staff will be introduced. Everyone who attends these sessions will receive some very valuable training and information. A schedule will be forthcoming from the Florida PTA Office soon.
Don’t forget that we will be offering both President’s and Treasurer’s Trainings on September 7th at 9:30 am and 6:00 pm. Presidents are required to take both President’s and Treasurer’s trainings. The Zoom Link for these trainings can be found on our DCCPTA Facebook Page. If you took the President or Treasurer’s Trainings in May when they were offered, you are good for 2022-2023.
We need local units to host our hospitality for the months of October, January, March and April. If your local unit can host these months, please let me know.
I hope everyone has a fun and safe Labor Day Weekend!

President, DCCPTA/PTSA
