DCCPTA President’s Newsletter March 2023

Greetings to Everyone!  Spring is in the air, and we have so many things happening in the month of March.  On March 21st we have our in-person Reflections Ceremony and we are so excited we are back to having this great celebration held in person!  Thank You to the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts for letting us hold this event in their auditorium!

If you have not taken advantage of Florida PTA’s Road to Success Wednesdays, I encourage you to do so.  They offer many great learning opportunities in these sessions, especially things you can take back to your school and PTA.

We are looking forward to all of the great award submissions that we will be collecting at our March 28th General Meeting.  I have been looking at all the programs our PTAs have been posting on Facebook this year and I am amazed at what all our local units are doing for their students, staff, and families.  Please let us celebrate you this year at our President’s and Principal’s Luncheon by recognizing the hard work your PTA has done.

This is the time of year when nominating committees will announce the officers for the 2023-2024 school year.  If you are at the end of your two-year term in your PTA position, it’s a good time start to cleaning up your emails and making sure your binders are in order to hand down to the person who will be taking over your position.  This really helps to make that transition to the new officer easier.  If you didn’t do a binder, you can do a thumb drive of all of your PTA files and pass them on to them.

It’s not too late to register for the Florida PTA LegCon that is being held in Tallahassee from March 26th – 28th.  There are so many important bills this year we need to be watching and this will give you an opportunity to learn more about them and a chance to advocate with your elected officials at our state capitol.

Be watching your emails for reservations to open at the Omni Champions Gate in Orlando for this year’s Florida PTA Leadership Convention.  Rooms will go fast so don’t wait to reserve your rooms.  The Florida PTA Leadership Committee has been working very hard to make this year’s convention a great one!  It will all be held in one building this year which will make it so much easier to get from one workshop to another and all of the general meetings.

I hope everyone has an extraordinary Spring Break!
