DCCPTA President’s Newsletter October 2023

Happy Fall Yall!

Fall is a time of change and transition—a gentle reminder that everything in life has its seasons. Fall also marks the beginning of the festive season. While most PTAs and PTSAs may be getting ready for campus clean ups, wonderful fall festivals and events to celebrate the season remember to take time for yourselves and your families. You are all doing amazing work to help your school communities and that is to be applauded. In the midst of our busy lives, it’s important to take a step back. So, let us pause for a moment, breathe in the crisp air, and allow ourselves to be present in this fleeting season.

Florida PTA’s Road to success workshops are happening weekly and packed with useful information. The October workshop Topics include DEIJ – We All Matter, Reflections and more. We highly recommend these to all PTA leaders and membership. Register in advance to attend at https://floridapta.org/road-to-success/

From National PTA:

“It’s Family and school Safety month. National PTA has teamed up with Kidde and LenelS2 for Family and School Safety Month to educate families on the importance of having working smoke alarms and practicing fire safety at home through Kidde’s Cause For Alarm™ campaign.

To help do this, Kidde has created a 60-second Cause For Alarm jingle—“Beeps That Last, Get Out Fast”—an actionable sing-a-long that helps children remember what to do in the event of a house fire. To get involved, share the jingle on social media and visit CauseForAlarm.org to learn more about fire safety.

In partnership with Kidde and LenelS2, National PTA kicked off its October Family and School Safety Month with a webinar, “Always Prepared: Your PTA’s Role in Keeping Communities Safe.” The webinar featured a conversation with experts on the importance of safety and preparedness at home and at school and the heightened risk to certain communities. Watch a playback on our YouTube Channel.”

Wishing you a wonderful fall filled with warmth, peace, and endless moments of joy.

With autumnal regards,
